Historical Context and Positioning in the Range

The Rydeen series follows Yamaha’s tradition of accessible drum sets, designed to offer real playing comfort from the very first sessions. Positioned as an entry point into the brand’s acoustic kit universe, it focuses on a simple, robust, and coherent design while maintaining a classic and immediately recognizable visual identity.

Who This Drum Set Is For

This acoustic drum set is primarily aimed at beginners and intermediate drummers looking for an affordable, complete, and expandable kit. The 20-inch configuration is suitable for both rehearsals and home practice, easily covering styles such as pop, rock, funk, and contemporary music, with quick handling and reassuring ergonomics.

Features and New Additions

The kit offers a well-sized set of shells paired with Triple Flange stamped hoops for simple tuning and consistent response. It features a standard suspension system for the tom, designed to facilitate mounting and maintain good resonance. The set is completed by a new badge and rhodoid wrap finishes that enhance the traditional look of the set while remaining perfectly suited for daily use.

Sound

With poplar shells (6-ply, 7.2 mm), the Rydeen delivers a warm and fairly rounded tone, particularly pleasant for working on fundamentals and consistency. Poplar provides a soft attack and moderate sustain, making the kit forgiving and easy to control, especially for initial tuning adjustments.

The 20-inch bass drum offers a present low end without overpowering the mix, while the 14 x 5.5 snare remains responsive and versatile. The toms (10 and 12) and the 14-inch floor tom cover a wide range with balanced projection, ideal for learning to structure grooves and breaks.
