Rather than static single-cycle waves, the AWM2 engine’s waveforms are complex multi-sampled mini-presets. Deep FM Synthesis

The FM-X synthesis engine harkens back to Yamaha’s revolutionary DX series. Like the legendary DX7, the FM-X uses FM synthesis to create lush and harmonically-complex timbres. The FM-X engine boasts eight operators (two more than the original DX-7) and eighty-eight algorithms. A host of subtractive analogue-style filters (including low-pass, band-pass and notch) can be used to tame the harshest and most metallic FM tones you can create. In addition to the traditional sine waves, the FM-X engine also allows you to use other waveshapes to take you well beyond what the classic DX synths were capable of.

Motion Sequencing is another inspiring sound design feature that can be easily manipulated in real-time via the tactile 7″ touchscreen. Motion Sequences are tempo-locked control sequences that can be used to rhythmically alter virtually any synth parameter for truly evolving and captivating patches that other synths could only dream of.

Another MODX+ superpower is the glowing Super Knob. With one tactile control, you can adjust multiple parameters at once. Each parameter can be adjusted with its own range and polarity. The Super Knob can be controlled using the knob itself, an external expression pedal or automated using the Motion Sequencer.

The MODX6+ has had its RAM storage upgraded from its predecessor — 1GB to 1.7GB — to match the Montage. This allows you to keep more of your favourite imported sounds stored at any one time.
