True acoustic behaviours backed by world-class tech
As a minimum, an electronic drum kit should offer a realistic drum response with a degree of technology to justify its purchase. With the JDTX10KMRWUK, you have a superbly playable drum set that faithfully reproduces acoustic drum behaviour. This is thanks to Yamaha’s exhaustive investigations into how drums respond when they’re struck. The mesh head surfaces go a long way in recreating these nuances, and when you add the DTX-PROX Drum Module’s powerful technology to the mix, you have an outstanding instrument on your hands.
Stand-out features on the new DTXPROX module
The new DTXPROX module features new high-definition sounds and studio quality effects, providing further freedom in selecting, editing, and creating your own sounds. These effects can be added individually onto each channel, meaning you can have different effects on your snare drum than the rest of the kit. With eight individual outputs, the Yamaha DTX10K-M RW Electronic Drum Kit can be recorded easily, and on separate tracks for better editing and mastering. Once recorded, this module can be used as a mixer to control your DAW.
This module also allows you to load up to 1000 user samples via USB, providing endless options of sounds, genres, and sound effects.
Bluetooth is a unique feature on the DTXPROX module and does not feature on the DTXPRO. This allows you to play along to your favourite songs from a tablet or mobile, without plugging into the module directly.
So why choose the DTX10?
The Yamaha DTX10K-M RW Electronic Drum Kit is packed with more sounds and more kits that can be edited as you desire in order to find your perfect sound. The DTXPROX module also features accurate velocity responses due to there being a sensor around the rim of the drum. This means, your light and heavy hits will respond beautifully and authentically – just like on an acoustic drum.
Built with playability and authenticity in mind
The pads on the Yamaha DTX10K-M RW Electronic Drum Kit have a realistic feel, including the 12’’ bass drum which features a multi-layer cushion head surface to change the feel depending on how hard you play it. Other than the bass drum, all of the pads feature mesh heads which provide an impressively authentic feel with great responses. These heads are tuneable, allowing you to customise the feel and response of each pad. Each pad is also fitted with a head and rim sensor. This allows you to achieve cross-stick, rimshots, and ghost notes.
The cymbals are triple zone, allowing you to play on the edge, bow, and bell of each cymbal. You can also choke each cymbal for added authenticity and playability.
Find your perfect sound with the kit modifiers
The DTXPROX module offers totally new audio quality with new samples recorded in some of the best studios in Europe. The sounds can be treated with a host of studio effects, so you can tailor the sound of your kit to your exact needs. You can also load up to 1,000 of your own samples, in addition to the 400+ internal sounds.
The kit modifier knobs allow you to instantly change the sound of the kit by adjusting real sampled room ambience, kit compression, and other effects in real time. Every channel also has EQ, and Transient Adjustment which is usually found in studio software and allows you to change the attack and decay of the sound to suit your needs.
The room ambience responds to your playing for further authenticity. Even when turned up full, it’s hard to notice any reverb or delay when played quietly. Play loud and you can hear the natural reverb and delay of the room.
Unlimited sounds for complete freedom
The sounds on the DTXPROX work in a similar way to a VSTI. You start with a clean sample and add effects as you please to capture the perfect sound. New samples and sounds can be uploaded to the module via a USB stick and editing using the 31 different effects available. These effects can be added and adjusted in real time on each individual pad to allow complete freedom for your drumming.
You can also assign up to four sounds at the same time on each pad via layering. Acoustic drummers use things like tambo-rings on their snare drums to add a whole new timbre, but with the DTXPROX you can add this effortlessly. You can also stack cymbals onto the same pad, without the need of adding a whole new pad and cymbal arm to your setup.
A kit that helps you perform
The Yamaha DTX10K-M RW Electronic Drum Kit features a live setting that allows you to have a stereo backing track to play along to. Additionally, this setting also plays a click track to you through your headphones to help you keep in time.
Recording has never been easier
You can record up to 90 minutes of play time on a USB, directly from the module. If you are recording on a computer using a DAW, the DTXPROX features 8 individual outputs, plus a master left and right. This allows you to record your drums onto individual tracks, similar to if you were recording an acoustic kit.
Durable hardware for added stability
The Yamaha DTX10K-M RW Electronic Drum Kit includes durable hardware that is also used on the Yamaha acoustic drums. This includes the lugs, hoops, and tension rods. This kit includes a hi-hat stand and snare drum stand which both offer exceptional stability, durability, reliability, and playability.
Edit and record with Rec’n’Share
Rec’n’Share is a free app for iOS and Android which allows you to connect your module to a compatible iOS or Android device. Once connected, you can record drum performances as audio tracks or even video. After your recording is complete, Rec’n’Share offers a range of audio and video editing features and allows you to upload your completed track or clip to social media platforms.
The Yamaha DTX10K-M RW Electronic Drum Kit is also equipped with MIDI and USB, along with audio outputs. A Steinburg Cubase AI is included on the module, making USB transfer quick and easy to record on your computer.
