In 1958, Gibson updated the Les Paul Junior and Special with double cutaways for better fingerboard access. However, it wasn’t until 1960 that the Special found its stride. The new, lower pickup placement and slim neck taper made the guitar more robust and easier to play than ever.

This model features classic appointments, including a one-piece mahogany neck with a long neck tenon for enhanced stability and sustain. Additionally, it boasts a bound rosewood fretboard and mother-of-pearl trapezoid inlays. An aged mother-of-pearl Epiphone headstock logo and the words “Les Paul Model” are silk-screened in gold, complementing the Gibson-style “open book” headstock.

Impressive Electronics

The electronics deliver impressive performance with two USA Gibson P-90 pickups. These pickups are hand-wired to CTS® potentiometers, Black Beauty paper-in-oil capacitors, and a Switchcraft® pickup selector toggle switch. The Vintage Gloss finish enhances its classic look while the nickel hardware, including Epiphone Deluxe “Double Ring” Keystone button tuners, adds a polished touch.
