The Horizon 8P is a 24-in / 32-out Thunderbolt™ 3 audio interface built around eight Audient console mic preamps with ORBIT Control variable impedance. Paired with 32-bit conversion at 133dB dynamic range and 0.99ms round-trip latency, the 8P puts a complete, console-grade tracking front end in a single rack unit — designed for the producer or studio capturing performances with real analogue character and headroom.
Key Features
● 24-in / 32-out connectivity over Thunderbolt™ 3
● 8 × Audient Console Preamps with 75dB gain and digital recall
● ORBIT Control variable impedance with three selectable voicings (high, mid, low)
● 2 × JFET instrument inputs on channels 1 and 2
● 8 × line I/O over DB25 for outboard and hybrid mixing
● 32-bit / 192kHz conversion, 133dB dynamic range
● 0.99ms round-trip latency (192kHz, 64-sample buffer)
● Dual ADAT I/O — 16 channels of digital expansion
● Dual speaker outputs for A/B monitoring, plus dual headphone outputs
● Hardware monitor control — mono, polarity, dim, talkback and reference level
● Horizon Control software — routing matrix, custom monitoring and four independent mixes
● Selectable reference levels (+18dBu, +24dBu) and BNC word clock I/O
● Scalable architecture — daisy-chain up to four Horizon units on a single driver, with a system maximum of 200 × 200 I/O
● 1U all-metal chassis, three-year warranty
● macOS, up to 192kHz
Why the HORIZON 8P?
The 8P puts a full tracking front end in one rack unit. Eight genuine Audient console preamps – David Dearden’s circuit design from the ASP8024-HE console – give every source real analogue character and 75dB of clean, quiet gain, while ORBIT Control reshapes each preamp’s impedance in hardware to voice ribbon, dynamic and condenser microphones at the source. When the session turns to mixing, eight DB25 line inputs bring your outboard straight in. 32-bit conversion at 133dB dynamic range and 0.99ms round-trip latency let you track and monitor through native plugins with no perceptible lag, and Horizon Control keeps routing, monitoring and four independent mixes a click away.
