• 88 Key GHS Weighted Keyboard — The Graded Hammer Standard action provides a heavier feel in the lower keys and a lighter touch in the upper range, closely simulating an acoustic grand. This helps beginners develop proper finger strength and technique, while more experienced players benefit from a responsive, expressive keyboard.
• CFX Concert Grand Piano Voice — Sampling from Yamaha’s flagship CFX concert grand delivers a rich, detailed piano tone with a wide dynamic range. From delicate pianissimo to powerful fortissimo, the YDP-146 responds musically to your touch, making practice and performance more inspiring.
• 8W x 2 Amplifier with 12 cm Speakers and Diffuser Grilles — The built in stereo amplification and speakers provide a clear, room filling sound, while the diffuser grilles enhance treble projection so notes remain defined even at a distance. This creates a pleasant sound field for both players and listeners.
• VRM Lite and Stereophonic Optimiser — Virtual Resonance Modelling Lite simulates the natural resonance of strings in a grand piano, adding realism and depth to your playing. When using headphones, the Stereophonic Optimiser recreates the sense of sound coming from the piano in front of you, reducing fatigue and making silent practice more enjoyable.

Whether you are learning your first pieces, brushing up your technique or enjoying late night playing with headphones, this compact upright style piano offers a rewarding, immersive playing experience every time you sit down.

Authentic Piano Feel

The YDP-146 features Yamaha’s Graded Hammer Standard keyboard, with a heavier touch in the bass and a lighter touch in the treble, closely mirroring the response of an acoustic grand. Improved key sensors accurately capture fast passages, grace notes and trills, so developing players can build proper technique and more advanced pianists can play with confidence and control.

Expressive Pedalling

All three pedals are designed to feel natural and responsive, with the damper pedal offering half pedalling for nuanced control over sustain. This allows you to shape phrases more musically, from subtle resonance to full, singing chords, helping you develop expressive pedalling skills that translate directly to an acoustic piano.

Rich, Immersive Sound

At the heart of the YDP-146 is Yamaha’s CFX concert grand piano sampling, delivering a richly detailed, colourful tone across the full keyboard. The 8W x 2 stereo amplifier and 12 cm speakers, combined with new diffuser grilles, project a clear, well balanced sound that fills the room, making playing and listening equally enjoyable.

Advanced Piano Modelling and Headphone Experience

Virtual Resonance Modelling Lite recreates the complex sympathetic resonance of strings inside a grand piano, adding depth and realism to your sound. When practising with headphones, the Stereophonic Optimiser simulates the natural spread of an acoustic piano in front of you, so you can enjoy an immersive, comfortable playing experience at any time of day.

Smart Digital Convenience

The YDP-146 includes a range of built in practice tools such as preset songs, a metronome, recording functions and automatic volume control for more comfortable headphone use. Bluetooth connectivity lets you stream audio from compatible devices or play along with your favourite tracks, while the free Smart Pianist app offers simplified controls, on screen scores, recording options and additional functions to support your learning.
