A creative hub at your fingertips
The DTX-PRO Drum Module is one of the finest in its price range. Coming packed with 400+ real-world drums and their natural ambience, you wont be sonically bored. Its Kit Modifier technology offers revolutionary audio modification with its Compression, Effect and real-world recorded Ambience knobs. This is the result of decades of Yamaha’s sound creation expertise condensed into a trio of knobs at your fingertips. These effects work in real-time, able to alter natural-sounding acoustic drums, live performance drum sounds, and kits heavy on FX and compression instantly. With the DTX-PRO Drum Module by your side, the drummer gets to define the kit, and not the other way round.
Modern technology to create natural feel
E-Drums have come a long way since their inception in 1976. Drummers want technological abilities coupled with a realistic drum response, and the DTX8K-M has respected this. New mesh heads — exclusively made by Remo USA — mimic acoustic drum behaviour to give you a responsive feel when struck. Tuneable, these heads can be adjusted so you get the response your after, whether that’s super tight or low and soft, they’ll resonate with the Birch shells and Yamaha Hardware. The bass drum — big enough for a double pedal — is made of durable rubber for excellent feel and quietness that utilises a three-layer cushion structure to provide an optimum feel depending on the strength of your stroke. This physical dynamic response couples the expressive possibilities of the module. Unique Yamaha feel coupled with the incredible kit sounds allow immersion into the kits at hand and your drummer physicality.
World class drum sounds at your fingertips
Recorded in some of Europe’s finest studios with leading engineers and Yamaha drum artists, some of the best sounding drum kits you’re likely to hear in this price range are freely available. From Jazz to Rock, Hip-Hop to Funk, there is a kit for every genre and musical situation. The recording process went further than just raw samples though; the unique natural room ambience was also recorded and has been linked to the Ambience knob. Dynamically responsive, drums sound full, musical and immersive — who doesn’t want that?! You can load in up to 1000 user samples too (WAV) to create completely unique set-ups. All able to be manipulated by the creatively stimulating Kit Modifier Knobs, realism, enjoyment and fun are the aim of the game.
Durable hardware formed from legacy
With almost 55 years experience crafting some of the most legendary drums ever made, the hardware has heritage. The DTX8K-M has the same lugs and hoops as their acoustic lines, bringing more drummer-technology connection to the party. Lightweight and durable hi-hat and snare stands bring a sophisticated acoustic feel, whilst the RS8 Rack System keeps all your pads stable and in secure. Sleek Black Forest finish, new DTX badge and birch shells complete the stunning aesthetic mix of modern electronics with traditional design, perfect for any environment.
Invaluable learning functions
Every practice and learning function you’ve known and loved with previous DTX models are pre-loaded on the DTX-PRO Module. As well as the sophisticated programmable metronome, the module offers a 90 minute recording function to a USB stick or 90 second to internal memory, perfect for recording new ideas. Its 10 training functions are ideal for players of all standards, while the 37 training songs allow you to learn and master a variety of genres. Beginners and professionals alike will find the DTX6 training functions a useful aid for daily practice, whether you’re learning afresh or simply keeping up your chops. The DTX-PRO even comes with a download code for the latest version of Cubase AI, the powerful music production software.
Ultra precise expression
Dynamics and expression are key to a natural electronic drum experience. Opening up this expression is the Dual Zone 13» snare pad and Triple Zone cymbal pads, offering voicing possibilities in the bucket load. These zones allow tonal exploration on all surfaces. Taking the 15» ride as an example, you can play the bell, body, wash as well as choke, whilst clever positional sensing reacts to strikes in different areas responsively. Rimshots, sidesticks and head strikes on the snare are all articulate and faithful to your strikes intention, reacting in different areas to create the audio response through intricate audio processes. The Ambience Knob comes into its own here too, only producing the ambience of the stroke you play — not a set level of reverb throughout the entire performance.
Connectivity for days
Every kit in the DTX8 series is equipped with MIDI and USB, along with the standard audio outputs. The USB port can be used to transfer audio data directly to a DAW, as well as transmitting your performance as MIDI data to control other sound modules, plug-ins, or for external editing. Audio recordings can also be made directly to a USB flash drive for convenience. The free Yamaha Rec’n’Share app makes sharing your best work with the world easy: simply connect the DTX8K-M via USB to a compatible iOS or Android device and record drum performances as audio or video. Rec’n’Share provides extensive audio editing features such as time-stretching the audio recordings and changing the mix of video recordings. It also gives you the option of directly uploading videos to social media platforms from the comfort of your drum stool.
