Bring the noise with P90s

Bright, punchy and filled with growl, the dual P-90s are the Special’s secret weapon. They’ve been around since the 1940’s and have made their mark their mark on music history. Rock, country, jazz and even punk have been blessed by the fierce sonics of the P-90s. Everything you play with be tinged with a vintage, sweet twang, a highly sought-after effect for many guitarists.

There’s a three-position switch to choose between neck, middle and bridge positions, each with their own crisp voicing. Flick between them to discover new ways to attack songs and open up solos, as each mode will extract diverse tones from the pickups. Use it in conjunction with the hand wired controls to blend in unique and flavourful sounds as you play.

Slim Taper, built for speed

It’s time to enjoy some fretboard freedom. The Special delivers an excellent, responsive feel thanks to its slim taper neck, allowing for seamless transitions up and down the fretboard. Fitting naturally into the palm of your hand, it affords your fingers more room on the board. And of course, the classic double cutaway design gives you unhindered access to the top frets. So don’t hold back, because your creativity can reach new heights.

The ideal partner for that slim neck is of course, a rosewood fretboard. Slick and soft to touch, it complements the slim mahogany neck perfectly. It will draw out your best playing and most complex riffs because it’s so easy to manoeuvre over. Not only that, but you’ve also got superb sustain and effortless pitch bends as a result of its medium jumbo-sized frets. Finished to Gibson’s high standards, it’s a playing surface like no other.

SG style and SG playability

Steal the spotlight. Equipped with twin arches, a teardrop pickguard and an irresistible body shape, the SG Special continues the series’ long record of impeccable style. It’s finished in a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer and contrasted with a cream binding for that premium, quality look and feel — something that’s afforded to only the highest end guitars. It’s an instrument that will turn heads, for all the right reasons.

Not only does it look great, but it also boasts an incredible light weight feel. Fatigue? No thanks. The SG Special makes dancing around stage and enduring endless sets an easy task. Don’t be burdened by heavy equipment, the Special gives you a nimble body and extra slim neck. There’s a tonne of space to express yourself up and down the fretboard, and when paired with the articulate P-90s, the SG gives you the tools to inspire.
