The finest woods
The soundboard and ribs are made from solid spruce, hand-selected at Yamaha’s Kitami Mill in Hokkaido. As a result, the piano produces a richer, more resonant voice with consistent tonal balance across the keyboard.
The five solid spruce back posts provide exceptional structural support. In addition, Yamaha’s proprietary wood-drying process ensures long-term stability and sustained resonance.
Yamaha pioneered the V-Pro Vacuum Shield Mold casting process. Consequently, the frame is stronger, lighter, and highly durable. Each Yamaha U1 Ta3 ebony piano features a full-perimeter frame built to exacting standards in Japan.
Specially designed hammers
The patented aluminum action rail resists fluctuations in humidity and temperature. Therefore, the keyboard maintains consistent regulation and touch response over time.
Likewise, pure copper-wound bass strings are carefully balanced to achieve depth and clarity in the lower register.

The Soft-Close fallboard prevents sudden closure and enhances safety. Furthermore, premium key surfaces (Acrypet™ white keys and phenolic resin black keys) provide durability and a comfortable grip.
